Family Violence Lawyer Ballarat & Grampians Community Legal Service (BGCLS) is offering a rewarding opportunity for full time (38 hours) Family Violence Lawyer to provide services in Ballarat.
As a Family Violence Duty Lawyer, you will provide high quality advice, casework, community legal education and court representation to clients in the Ballarat region and Family Violence Intervention Order Duty Lawyer Service at Ballarat Magistrates' Court.
This role will be guided by the newly developed Practice Model for the Specialist Family Violence Courts in Victoria. You will be required to provide holistic legal services to clients impacted by family violence, including both respondents and affected family members. Practice areas include, but are not limited to, tenancy, debt, family law, criminal law, fines, and VOCAT.
This role will work collaboratively with a range of key stakeholders including court staff, police prosecutors, Victoria Legal Aid duty lawyers and support services.
Ballarat & Grampians Community Legal Service (BGCLS) is a not-for-profit community organisation that provides free legal advice, casework and community legal education to people who live, work and study in the Grampians Region.
Administration Assistant Ballarat & Grampians Community Legal Service is seeking an Administration Assistant who can demonstrate a commitment to social justice principles and work within a Human Rights framework. This is a part time role of 20 hours per week.
The successful candidate must be empathetic and willing to work with vulnerable and disadvantaged communities.
This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment whilst still maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism. Date entry and file management is a key element to this role, which requires attention to detail, multitasking and sound organisational skills. Experience working in a legal setting such as a Community Legal Centre, Victoria Legal Aid or Private Legal Sector would be an advantage but not essential.
Volunteers are integral to the establishment and maintenance of our service delivery model, which is fundamentally different to the services available elsewhere in the private legal system. Volunteer Solicitors must have a current practising certificate.
